Sometimes the answer is “No!”

If you don’t ask you’ll never get an answer or a response. I recently had a reader of FAFF refuse to give me a recommendation or an endorsement for the book because he “hated it”. I was naturally a little surprised at this response and enquired as to why, as you would expect. To which he replied as follows (minus the odd swear word), “It was like you were inside my head, I do everything in that book and it felt like you had been watching me and writing down all the things I do when I am Faffing About.”

The good news is that Faffing is now firmly on this gentleman’s radar and his level of Faffing About has reduced dramatically and his productivity in the right places has increased. He is a fan.

How often to you avoid asking the questions because you are afraid of receiving a negative answer, are unable to deal with the possibility of rejection or too shy to ask? By not asking you have already made the decision to tread water, stay stuck where you are as there is no chance of you moving forward – you have decided to stay put. Try keeping a record of the number of times you avoid or put off asking for something, put off making that decision until later. Just thinking about it will assist you to address the reasons why you are not asking; what is the worst that can happen if they say “no”? You will just have to ask someone else!

Of course if you haven’t already, stop “Faffing About” and buy your copy of “FAFF” today. Enjoy the read.
